What to do with unsolicited credit cards?
I have good credit & I trust NO ONE with my personal information. My g/f on the other hand is rather stupid. She’ll give out anything to anyone. I tried to help her cerdit out by putting her on one of my cards; the one with the lower limit. Now she gets these unsolicited cards & they bill her for them even if she dont use them. Then when you call to cancel they keep u on hold till you hang up. Is there a way out of this for her?

EASY! Go to http://www.donotcall.gov if you are in the US.
I’m 29, and haven’t received a credit card promotion from any company in 4 years.
The national do not call registry was a mandate passed by the federal government.
Check it out at wikipedia and other places you trust.
I highly recommend http://www.clarkhoward.com, he’s a consumer activist with a radio show. TONS of great information for any US resident.
Yeah it’s called OPT OUT. the number is in the bottom of most credit card forms. You have to call the number and tell them that you do not want them to solicit you credit cards. It is a pain to receive all this credit information, because once you open a credit card the credit card company has the right to sell your information to other companies. If you call the number and opt out, they will take your name off the list and won’t bother you again.
Since the cards are unsolicited, you don’t have any obligation to pay. There is no contract.
Simply ignore the bill(s), contact the Better Business Bureau, and send the credit card company a Registered Letter with Return Receipt Requested, asking them for proof that you requested the cards and telling them that since the cards were unsolicited, you have no intention to pay. You may also want to send a copy of the letter (via regular mail) to the Local Postmaster and the District Attorney.
