How do i protect my wife’s credit rating while I go into default on my personal credit cards?

Recently I have been struck by financial hardship. As a result, I can no longer pay my credit cards and will have to seek out an arrangement with my creditors. I want to make sure my wife’s credit is not affected. We don’t own a house nor have joint credit cards or a joint bank account. Is there anything else I should do to ensure her credit is not affected by my upcoming financial woes?

Any advice you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Go to Consumer Credit Counseling and they will help you set up to pay all your debts in one payment to them, and they will pay your creditors until everything is paid off, the are a non- for profit agency helping people repair their credit. Ask them about your wife and keeping her credit good. I commend you for making sure your financial hardship does not affect your wife’s credit. Best Wishes!

Provided your wife is not a co-borrower on anything, you will be OK.

Your credit report is YOURS and her credit report is HERS!

Nothing on your credit report will affect her report so long as you don’t have her listed as an authorized user on any of your accounts or there are no joint accounts in both names.

Hope this helps answer your question

As long as you do not have any loans or credit cards jointly you are fine.

    Good luck!
