there are several websites out there that give you a free credit report once yearly.
http://annualcreditreport.com
annualcreditreport.com is the only site you can get free credit reports from. You can get one per year per credit reporting agency. I’m not so sure you want to actually cancel those old credit cards though, you should leave them open and that raises your credit score. It lowers your debt to credit ratio and that’s a good thing! If you cancel them you debt to credit ratio will raise and that will lower your score.
Unfortunately, what “LeSuck” provided you above is NOT a free website for credit reports.
http://www.annualcreditreport.com is where you want to go. There is no signing up, no subscriptions, and no credit card necessary. You can request each of your reports from all 3 bureaus once per year from this site for FREE.
You will not be able to get your score for free. You can go to http://www.myfico.com or http://www.experian.com for your FICO score, which is the score that lenders look at when revieiwing a loan application.
do some research before canceling those cards. you’ve already established your credit on them and holding onto them is actually better for your overall credit score. If you have other cards with balances on them you would be reducing your credit to debt ratio. this could possibly hinder your chances of getting any other form of loan or getting the lowest possible percentage rates.
Dont CANCEL, i learned the hard way old credit cards improves your score. It gives you a better credit / debt ratio.
Avoid freecreditreport..com, it is a scam bassically. The other links above are correct with the annualcreditreport.com
