What kind of lawyer should I talk to about keeping a rental house, but foreclosing on the house we live in now? I want to make sure they aren’t able to take the rental property.

You might be confusing foreclosure with bankruptcy. Unless you have both houses under the same mortgage they are unrelated.
If you don’t pay your mortgage on whichever house, the lender will foreclose, never fear.
