Do some medical insurances NOT cover failed suicide attempts?
I recently had a briefing at work about the company’s medical insurance for the employees. We were told we were not covered for medical attention if we ever got into a brawl.
I watch Dr House a lot, and I see a lot of failed suicide attempts. I’m in no way considering suicide, but I did get curious.
So, do some medical insurances NOT cover for medical atention in the case of a failed suicide attempt?

The brawl thing is crap. The suicide attempt is not
Self inflicted wounds and acts of war and acts of god are not covered.. If usa is going to REQUIRE we buy it , they need to redefine insurance discriminatory policies.. Obviously if you try to kill yourself you are ill and in need of care.
If that person was working in a company that provided med insurance for it’s employees that med insurer would have no choice but to continue that person.
But if if that person had a private med insurance policy his payments would probably skyrocket if he wanted to continue to be covered.
I have never heard of this before. I would be shocked if it were true. A person who has attempted to commit suicide has psychological issues which are often medically rooted and therefore should be eligible for coverage for any expenses. But insurance varies on what is covered for mental health services. . . an actual psychiatric inpatient stay might not be covered under some plans, but I think the medical costs for an ER or medical stay should still be covered.
Your individual insurance company is the best source to answer this question.
