I borrowed a car from a friend who knew I was using the car. I got into an accident which was my fault in her car. I got a ticket but when we went to court they threw it out of court. Now niether of us have had any wrecks or tickets since but both of our insurances increased is this right?

The ticket is a seperate thing from the accident, so having it thrown out, doesn’t negate the fact that you were at fault for an accident where the insurance paid out.
YOU still have an at fault accident on your driving record, because you were the driver where the policy paid out. And SHE has a claim that got paid out, under her policy.
So yes, both your insurances will go up, until the accident “ages” off – three full years, in most states.
Whether your insurance goes up or not may depend on what state your in and what company your with.
In California only your insurance would go up because the accident was your fault. That point only goes on your DMV record and not your friends. Better tell your friend to call his insurance company and ask why HIS rate went up. Maybe it shouldn’t have.
The friends rate increased because they (the insurance co.) had to pay out on the claim.
Yours would increase because even though the ticket was thrown out – it was still an at fault accident on your part. This is considered insurance points and separate from license points. Just be glad you didn’t get both.
Yes. They would have gone up even if you did not receive a ticket.
Your insurance went up because you were in an accident and were driving.
Your friend’s insurance went up because your friend’s car was in an accident.
