If it’s medically necessary because of infection, any of them.

If it’s done for cosmetic or religious reasons, many don’t, but hey, the procedure is cheap enough that if you want it done, just pay for it.

What type of circumcision? Adult or infant?
Probably around 30% of insurance companies cover infant circumcisions. However no adult circumcision is covered by any medical insurance unless it’s needed.

It’s a cosmetic surgery so a vast majority of companies will not fork up a dime for it.

You do realize that circumcision is never truly necessary right?

-If it’s for an infant, that’s just plain cruel and stupid. Babies are born perfect, girls AND boys.

-If it’s for an adult….infections can be cured with antibiotics, and phimosis can be cured with steroid cream, or soaking in warm water and manually stretching the foreskin. It’s a much more cost-effective and much less painful way to deal with problems. Plus the guys will retain nerve endings.

YOUR SON DOES NOT WANT TO BE CIRCUMCISED. Have you thought about how he would feel about having part of HIS penis cut off? So many American moms are leaving their sons intact these days. The US infant circumcision rate is only 50% right now- down from nearly 90% in the 1970s. It used to be taboo to have the penis you were born with. But times have changed, and people have changed. It’s finally acceptable for an American guy to have a whole, intact penis. Circumcision is not recommended by any medical society in the world. Aren’t we supposed to listen to medical societies? Please do research on this unnecessary surgery.

Infant circumcision is usually not covered, because it’s an unnecessary cosmetic procedure with zero medical benefits. A boy should be able to decide for himself as an adult whether he wants two-thirds of his penile skin sliced off. Your baby will be born perfect, you know…no need for a surgical alteration that violates his rights to his body.

730 dollars for a few minutes work?
No wonder doctors in the USA recommend RIC. I can see why they push vulnerable new parents into doing it, it’s extremely lucrative for them, isn’t it?

The sooner that the US has a tax funded health care system, the better, this barbaric practice will stop then.

I am in SoCal and the cost was only $300 or so and done in the doctor’s office. We had Kaiser and Blue Cross and both covered the procedures.
