You would want property damage / liability insurance – this would cover if you damaged property of your customers or one of your customers gets hurt at your place.

You would want business insurance – this covers things like loss of use of your business ie your shop burned down.

You would want some type of property owners insurance – this would cover rebuilding your building in the event it was damaged.
I’m not an insurance expert – but I have a small business and i have these types of insurance. I will add , i get them all through one agent under one policy that has what they call riders attached to the policy that covers specific types of events. I dont think you will get quotes on line for this, but I would recommend you get the name of your mom or dads insurance agent – call him and ask him your questions – he will give you the right answers. This should be a good guide though of things to ask him. Good luck with your report.

You can’t buy it over the internet, and the pricing varies wildly depending on a whole bunch of factors. Coverages you need will ALSO vary wildly, depending on a whole bunch of factors.

You’re going to have to talk to a local mechanics shop, and ask them what they are paying.

The two coverages that are essential would be a Commercial General Liability policy to cover any bodily injury or property damage caused by your business actions and a garage policy to cover damage to owned or customers automobiles (which is excluded under a Commercial General Liability policy). After that you would need coverage for property (to cover tools and equipment), business interruption coverage (to cover loss of income should an insured peril damage the premises to the extent that you can’t carry on business) and crime coverage (to cover loss of money and securities). There is no website that will quote this type of policy. Either contact a local insurance broker’s office or speak to garages in your area.
