Who should claim a home & rental until after a divorce when both parties are still on the mortgages? We?

have been working with the refinance departments for both homes to have them put in one of our names, but it’s taking forever & now it’s time to file taxes yet again. Advice?

A CPA is the best person to speak with about what to do tax-wise. I would suggest that you both use the same one unless you’re worried about the CPA disclosing information to the other party.

Working with the existing servicer on your respective loans isn’t always the best way to go have the title and mortgage. They’re getting the payments either way at the current interest rate, so what incentive do they really have?

Refinancing is usually the best way to go, and you may be able to get a better rate in the process. If interested, email me, and we can discuss what options you have.
