Do late payments on a school loan hurt my chances of a home loan with a good interest rate?
I am 24 years old and I have paid my college loan late a few times and I am hoping to get a home loan with a descent interest rate, will that still be possible? And what effect do garnishments have on home loans? The garnishment is not home loan related.

As far as I know (and this is info from what doctors at the hospital I work at told me, and they know because they’ll all be paying off loans till they die!) they don’t have any bearing *unless* the loan goes into default.

all the information on your college loan is reported to the credit bureaus. later payments on any time of loan, including credit card payments will affect you credit score. if you have a garnishment it will also appear on your credit report. it shows you are not a trustworthy person and it will be very difficult for you to get any load at a reasonably good interest rate. get your act together and live within your means for a few years and make your payments on time and your score will get better. forget about buying a home. sounds like you could not afford to anyway since it normally requires some down payment.

My little advice is that you go to a bank in your area to request for the loan, I think that would be a bit easier for you, but let me also recommend you to a loan firm that offers unsecured loans in order to ease your situation, though he is the only one I have tried for now so I don’t really know if their interest rate is the lowest. Few months ago when I had a bad credit, a friend of mine introduced me to them, inspite of my bad credit they were able to loan me 25K of which I used to revive my business, I think you too can do the same as well.
