How does insurance work when you & your spouse both have family coverage. Between the two how much is covered?
So, my husband has family insurance, which is basically covers 80% of everything but dental But about 40% of dental. Now, would it be worth me getting insurance as well for the family or would it not matter? Say if i had medical that covered 80% and dental that covered 40%, would they be combined, and what one company didnt pick up the other would? Minus deductibles of course? Or how does that even work….

Benefits coordinate. Your insurance is primary for you, his insurance is secondary for you.
They don’t “double apply”. His plan only pays what they would have paid, MINUS what your insurance pays.
As an example, if you have a $100 dental bill, and each policy pays 40%, your insurance pays the 40%, and his pays zero, as the DIFFERENCE in coverage is zero.
If you have a $1,000 bill, and a $500 deductible, and his plan DOESN’T have a deductible, then your play would pay 40% of $500 (the amount after the deductible), or $200, and your husband’s plan would pay $200 – 40%, with no deductible, MINUS what your insurance paid.
Very rarely, is it “worth it” to have double coverage like that.
