The answer to your question is yes. You can start applying for them. There are beginner cards and that is likely the only ones that you would be eligible for until you establish some credit.
They do typically carry high interest rates and you will want to make sure that you pay your balance off in full each month.
If you do not have money for what you are purchasing then you will have even less money when you are paying for it later plus interest in addition to t he rest of your bills.
Most people get in trouble with their first cards because they do not realize this.
Good luck and use credit wisely.
Before you get approved for a interest rate that will make you choke try establishing some positive credit. This will increase your ability to get a lower rate. Also make SURE you dont fall in the credit card trap.
Oh and BTW in 2010 the credit card bill of rights is coming out which will prevent anyone less than 21 in getting a credit card unless you have a co signer.
This site might help with establishing credit: http://www.getqualifiedcredit.com
Hope it helps, GOOD LUCK!
Yes! when you become 18 years you can apply for a credit card
a good site with very good credit card offers even for no credit is
You’re getting a lot of bad information here.
Yes, the CARD act does start in 2010, but anyone under the age of 21 must have either a co-signer OR they must prove their income (I wouldn’t recommend the website he was sending you to either)
As for being 18 in a month, if you want a card that requires a signature and confirmation of an 18 year old, you must be 18 at the time of the application. It’s like getting into a bat when you’re 20 but you’ll be 21 in a month. You have to be 21 and they don’t care when you turn it.
It’s advised you DO NOT apply for ANY credit cards. I can understand your need to establish credit—but to sign on with a credit card company is akin to pouring nitro on a fire; you are, in essence, contributing to the RECESSION problem—and priming yourself up to get stung in the process.
And credit card companies are very slick with their marketing: Offering you an attractive APR (added interest to monthly repayment)—that quadruples right under you after the “trial” period is past. THEN they got you.
And it gets better: Some companies SELL others YOUR account—more often than not, WITHOUT your knowledge / consent!! You THEN face paying HIGHER monthly repayments (which the additional profit is halved or “kickbacked” to whomever sold your account: a win/win for them and YOU LOSE, big time).
Beware, beware—you’re seeking this during RECESSION time!!! And desperate times do call desperate measures—in the form of the FINE PRINT no one pays attention to.
Don’t take my word for it, but DO the FINE PRINT reading yourself, my insistence, please.
