It’s sad that you think insurance agents are scum. Perhaps you don’t understand how insurance works and think that the agent is after your money. It’s only those who are not qualified or trained enough that will give you that impression.
Please take the trouble to understand that the key factor in having insurance is to cover yourself in the event something happens to you like an accident, a critical illness or should premature death happens.
If nothing happens till maturity of the policy…..(endowment Policies until age 60 or 70) then you would have some savings for your old age.
Give yourself a chance to listen to the agent…there is no obligation to buy….but even if you are earning a salary…there is no reason not to buy as it would be considered forced savings which eventually would be considerable when you retire.
You never know when something happens…that’s what insurance is all about.
Life is uncertain but Death is certain

To tell them I sell the products myself, I’ll listen to their sales pitch AFTER they listen to mine.

Tell them you don’t make long-term buying decisions based on who is your friend or family member, but who can provide you with the best solution for your needs. If you buy from someone just because you are familiar with them and want to do them a favor, you may pay for that favor for a very long time. The ones who “pretend to be your friend” are not usually good rational thinkers.

The only insurance you should ever buy is term life. any thing else is a rip off. But you have to protect yourself. Call the and set up an appointment. Do not buy any of their financial stuff though. Just term life.
