We are not pregnant yet. We are both self employed and want to find an insurance plan that covers pregnancy before we start planning. Any suggestions?

Most individual policies have a 12-18 month waiting period before they pick up the costs of the pregnancy. Which means in most cases, it is a pre-payment plan. Contact your OB and hospital to see what their cash discount amount is and contact a local independent agent to compare the premium costs. You will probably find that paying cash up front is equal or less than getting maternity coverage. This is only a good idea if you have a policy that already covers complications of pregnancy.

Go talk to a local, independent agent.

You’ll find out that maternity coverage is basically a “prepayment plan”, when it comes to individual policies. That’s because only the people who want to use it, buy it.

So basically, whatever health insurance you get, you’ll pay that premium, PLUS an extra $300 a month or so, and you can’t get pregnant for the first year, or it won’t cover that pregnancy.

I’m almost positve my Ameriplan covers pregnancy as I know they cover specialists. Go to my site http://www.MyBenefitsPlus.com/KatyK The health plan is very affordable $29.95 a month for just health or $39.95 to include dental. Any of your questions should be answered on my site or your welcome to email me as well. I hope this helps you.
