It depends how the damage occurred. If it’s a covered loss and cannot be repaired, then yes, they will pay for a replacement. If you give more info. about your situation, I could better answer your question.
Not unless the “dangerous condition” is due to an accident. If the roof is just deteriorated due to age, that is your problem.
The insurance company will not repair your roof because it is old or a danger. It will only replace a roof if it was damaged due to a covered loss.
Call and ask your agent or post more details on why and/or how your roof is a danger.
Maintenance of the property is the obligation of the owner not the insurance company.
If a furnace is getting old do you think insurance should pay to replace it because it could be dangerous? And while we are at it how about that old wiring that needs to be replaced, it’s getting downright dangerous – call the insurance company. And so long as their out here how about checking with the insurance company about fixing the crooked slab on the walkway, it’s dangerous, someone might trip and hurt themselves. Oh and the plumbing is getting old it might ……….
Sorry insurance doesn’t work like that. If it did you could not afford the premiums that would have to be charged.
The purpose of insurance is to put you back to your preloss condition. So if you had a new roof , prior to the loss, sure. But if your roof is old- say 25 year old and has tons of wear and tear- you are resposible for the maintenance of your own home. Also insurance is based on replacement cost – if an insured peril causes you to have a lot- example windstorm or hail damage. Also it will pay for any resulting damage- like water damage.
