Pet insurance that covers routine checkups?

Question by Emily F: Pet insurance that covers routine checkups?
I would like a pet insurance plan that covers routine checkups (and shots and things) and some emergency care, but I am not finding many companies that cover the routine stuff, just the emergency. I also don’t want to pay an arm and a leg lol.

If you’re in the States, check into mega-corporate pet supply chains like PetSmart or PetCo. PetSmart has a “program” (I don’t think they actually call it “insurance”) but it covers basic medical care for your pet and runs about $ 20/month. They do check ups, grooming/dental care, flea baths, diagnoses, vaccines, and they spay/neuter your pet for no cost beyond the basic $ 20/month. I’m not sure how deep their coverage runs (I don’t know if they’ll provide chemo, for example) but if nothing else it could be a great supplemental program to any insurance plan that only covers emergencies.
