could this business idea work.?
Question by Chris Pearce: could this business idea work.?
me 18 and friend 20.
looking to partner in business opening a car garage, however not the kind you think!
although we are into our cars, and it is fair to say you know a fair bit about them. neither of us are qualified engineers and that is not the side of business we are looking to go into, but this:
when a young boy or girl firsts buys a car there are a number of modifications they like to make, some of the most popular being.
-audio systems
-subwoofers
-spoilers.
-air filters.
-exausts
-rims
-paint work
-body kits
- interiors
and much much more.
now it is clear these are in massive demand by the younger generation drivers. and they do get them however, it has become clear to my business partner and i the complications people face in getting these items.
first of all the majoirty is ordered from the internet being ebay or foreighn websites, with no security on condition or quality.
secondly fitting these items is very simple for anyone who has done it before, but people are cautious about making these modification themselves due to any complications with there new pride and joy. so they end of ordering these parts and then ask around for a friend of a friend to fit there new part.
e.g a group of 30, 17 year old boys in 1 year in school ( me and my busines partner ending up fitting all the other boys parts for them incase they messed it up or wernt to sure,
so picture this have u seen pimp my ride ? thats the idea i am going for. after lots of research there is no garage that specializes in car customs as seen on that programme. in my whole fairly large town or the two very large cities 10 miles either side of my town.
so why wouldent all these thosands of potential clients come to my garage and buy a new set of rims for there car which they can come in and physically choose and touch, pay the same price or less “p+p” than they would have online and pay around 20quid extra to have them fitted by experianced people in the garage.
is this to good to be true ??

Seems like a good idea, since retrofit accessories usually have good profit margins, if you could somehow outsource tasks like painting to local body shops you might be able to keep the setup costs down. You at least would be able to get dealer cost (33% off?) if you have a business license, reasonably quick service would call for a significant investment in inventory.
