We use VPI as well – which was recommended by our vet. We have the VPI Superior Plan + WellCare Premier and it really does help.

For example, the heartworm medication reimbursement is $ 50.00 per year. We get the medication from the vet for about $ 90.00 but you can also get it online for about $ 75.00.

It really did help us the couple of times we needed an emergency visit. And if your dog is AKC registered, they have a plan as well.

VPI is also really easy to submit the claims to – you get the receipt from the vet’s office and fax a claim to them. You can mail it as well. And the few times that I needed to call them to inquire about a claim was painless – nothing like calling a “human” health insurance company.
