ABSOLUTELY NOT! That was 100% YOUR fault for not canceling sooner. Do you think you can claim a refund on health insurance for the year if you never got sick? Same concept.

It depends. You will not get “credit” for not having the vehicle in your possession that you’ve insured.

You do qualify for a pro rata cancellation when you cancel an insurance policy before the expiration date and/or before the next payment (installment) is due…which means if there are any monies owed you as of the date you cancel, it will be refunded. These refunds take anywhere from 10-45 days to receive.

    Hope this has been helpful!

The real mistake was cancelling your auto insurance at all. A huge part of the rating of an insurance policy is your history. Now when you try to get insurance in the future it will be atleast double the price of what you would pay if you had continuous insurance. In the future always call your agent and ask about suspending the car instead of cancelling the policy.

No the cancellation date will be from the date the insurance company received the letter and not at any earlier date. You should have canceled your policy earlier.
