The trouble with finding a good mortgage lawyer is that they represent lenders most of the time and will be reticent to bite the hand that feeds them.

You need a litigating attorney who is willing to write some letters and make some calls on your behalf without charging you thousands of dollars. Contact the attorney who represented you in your purchase (if you used one) for a referral or ask around.
